ISTQB Certified Tester - Advanced Level Technical Tester

As announced in my last post I have now also completed the Advanced Level Technical Tester course. And it was indeed a much more useful course. We learned many useful things about JUnit, Mock-Objects and Webtesting. However, there was also a lot of stuff repeated from the Foundation Level course so it was good that everything was still present.
The examination was tougher but fairer than the first one. We had to know more details to answer single questions, on the other hand, the questions were much clearer than before.
Now I'm to 1/3 an Advanced Level Tester. The other parts would cover Test Management and Functional Testing, but they are not high on my list of priorities for the moment :)

ISTQB Certified Tester - Foundation Level

Last week I completed a testing course which gave me the opportunity to take the ISTQB Foundation Level Tester examination.
The course was very interesting even though it repeated many things I knew from my studies, but still it gave a good overview. The examination itself was tough in so far, that it had many unclear questions where several answers were possible (according to the things taught in the course), nevertheless I scored enough points and am now a ISTQB Certified Tester.
Next week I'll tackle the ISTQB Technical Tester course and examination, which promises to be much more practical and thus more useful.
Pretty soon I'll need a free wall to frame all my certificates ;)

Swiss Munchkin Championship

Today the Swiss Championship of the Munchkin card game took place during the Zurich Game fair. It was a hard but very funny battle and I came in 3rd place after a landslide win in the qualification round!
The fair itself was pretty small but there were tons of games to try out and it was well worth the visit. Let's hope that it was a success and that it will return next year with even more exhibitors.

MEF Film Premiere

On Saturday we made a pilgrimage to the Gemmi pass to celebrate the Middle Earth Festival (MEF), or to be more precise to celebrate the premiere of the fantastic documentary about the MEF. And fantastic it was, in 70 minutes we could relieve the best scenes from this event and it felt like all those memories just happened yesterday. After the movie we made a torch procession (we had problems getting started, because the icy wind always extinguished our torches) followed by a good meal. Then it was time to party! Or for some of us, time to play 'Werwölfe von Düsterwald' till 3.30am !!!

It was an unforgettable experience and to share this I've posted a couple of pictures on my web page.

By the way, my Rincewind hat was quite the running gag of the evening and almost everyone wore it at one time or another (photographic evidence here) :)
