Squirrels in Boston
Last weekend in Boston I encountered the cutest Squirrel ever:
In the Public Garden, a park in the center of Boston, stood a tree which was infested by Squirrels, I counted at least 5 of them, and they were kind enough to pose for my camera ;). More pictures as usual on picasa.Labels: animals, boston, city trip, pictures, usa

Winter in Pittsburgh
Guido wrote a very poignant post about winter in Pittsburgh, here is a short excerpt:
"For the most time the temperature during the Pittsburgh winter is below 0 degree Celsius. Sometimes it was below 10 degree Celsius for weeks.

The Imax Experience
It being a rainy day yesterday, gave a good excuse to pay a visit to Boston's closest Imax, which happened to be in Reading 70 minutes away from Downtown. Having to travel so far I decided to make the best of it and watch two movies!Under the Sea 3D A documentary about creatures living under the water shot in dazzling 3D, giving you the feeling as if you were in the middle of the ocean almost touching the fish and reefs. Being a seasoned scuba diver myself I recognized many of the fishes and was delighted to meet cuttlefish, lion fish and the epaulette shark again, and then there were also a couple of fishes I've never seen, such as the Leafy Dragonfish, which looks a little bit like a seahorse but so much more elegant and interesting. It definitely awakened the urge in me to go scuba diving again. In short: A must-see for every scuba-diver and everyone interested in underwater creatures.
And then it was time for the main event:Watchmen - The IMAX experience Wow, what an experience! A fantastic story, elegantly told with flash-backs to fill in the background, stunning visuals and an apt and captivating soundtrack (like 99 Luftballons from Nena!). I wasn't familiar with the story before, having deliberately waited for the movie to read the graphic novel and so I was curious if it could live up to the high praise I've heard from all around. All I can say is, it surpassed my expectations! And seeing it on the huge IMAX screen made the story larger than life! If you have an Imax in the neighbourhood, even if it is 1 or more hours away, go and see Watchmen there, it is definitely worth the trip. But be sure to reserve your ticket if you're going on the weekend, I've heard that it is regularly sold out.Labels: movie, usa

Butterfly Garden @ Boston Science Museum
Springbreak for me happens in Boston, where I try to relax a bit and take in some of the sights. Today I went to the Science Museum, which currently hosts an interesting exhibit about Mythological Creatures such as Dragons, Unicorns, Mermaids and so forth. They also have a Butterfly Garden which boasts an amazing number of butterflies and was well worth a visit. You can find some pictures in my photo album:

Spring Break here I come!
We just finished our presentation of the latest task, which dealt with a Business Plan for Outsourcing Direct-To-Customer Sales for a Holiday Decoration Company.

Saturday at the Game Club...
Last Saturday I was part of a special event at the game club. One member brought a game he designed for playtesting. Obviously it's top secret so I cannot reveal too much ;), but it was a very interesting concept dealing with Hackers and the Internet.
After playing a couple of games of Tsuro and two rounds of Dominion, I got the chance to try another game. Thurn and Taxis plays in medieval Europe, with Zurich on the map!, and the player's goal was to connect different cities with postal routes. Quite interesting concept and definitely a game to play again.Labels: cmu, games
